Abstract—Food waste is a growing global concern,
impacting both environmental sustainability and food
security. Digital solutions such as web-based platforms
can play a crucial role in addressing this issue by
facilitating food donation, reducing wastage, and
promoting efficient resource distribution. This research
paper presents an analysis of the MealConnect project, a
web-based food waste management system developed
using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a Node.js backend
with Express.js. The study explores its features,
functionality, and potential impact while comparing it
with existing digital food management solutions. The
challenges faced in developing such a platform,
including user engagement, real-time inventory tracking,
and donor-recipient coordination, are also discussed.
The findings suggest that web-based food waste
management platforms can significantly improve food
redistribution efficiency, reduce waste, and contribute to
sustainable development goals.
